What is this?

Little monster likes to WEDGE himself into this spot between the
cushions to take a fitful nap and he doesn't care if you're sitting
there or not.

I'm not a big fan of dressing up one's dog ...

So when the vet said he needed a sweater it made my brow wrinkle a
bit. Off to the plet store and totally uninterested in any of the
offerings there. "Ironic" tees, tutus, cable knits, rain coats,
ridiculous costumes galore. So I whipped up this Sherlock Holmes
number in fleece. As you can see he doesn't like it. After much
chasing around the living room I finally got it on him and then he
just sat like a lump in my lap afraid to move.

Puppy likes to sleep and sleep and sleep ...

Someone has snazzy new duds

Milo was really not fond of his first harness, a standard webbing and
buckles thing. It was really stiff and pretty dorky looking. He would
just stand there not moving and gone was the waggy tail. He kinda got
used to it eventually but you could tell be didn't love it. So today
Milo had a super fun trip to the Urban Pet where we found this
splendid example of canine sartorial splendor. Doesn't he look ready
to join the circus?

Who doesn't love fat little puppy tummies?

Burrowing Anti-Social Monster Face

Auntie Angela is kindly keeping Milo company today and he's giving her
the butt. Puppy likes to burrow and will try to stuff his little
monster face into cracks in the couch, your elbow, under your knees,
behind your back, under pillows, behind your neck ...

Destruct-O-Pup

What happens when Milo doesn't get enough excercise?
His nice, comfy, tidy pen turns into a mass of shredded paper and lost
toys. There are at least four chew toys hiding in this mess, can you
tell?

Yesterday ...

... was a boring photo day but entertaining for monster face.
Contemplate Milo in repose during his after-breakfast-nap.

We have learned:
* Milo came 50% potty trained, hurray!
* Milo is SMART! And he knows it.
* Milo can neatly fold a rug to make it comfy all by himself.
* Milo likes berries, carrots, Brussels sprouts and broccoli.
* Milo grows at an erratic rate. 3 lbs last week, none this week.
* Milo loves to cuddle and bite, often at the same time.
* On hardwood floors Milo runs like a Looney Toons pup.

Why bother going inside your kennel when you can just sit on top of it?

So there's a puppy bed in there... which Milo knows, but he doesn't
care. Sometimes collapsing the pop up kennel is way more fun.

Did you like your first bath Milo?

"No way!"

Milo does NOT like getting wet. And Ellen learned she should wear
chainmail pants instead of shorts for bathtime.

Shoes! Shoes! Shoes!

Milo meet water

We've had super Milo for one week! To celebrate Peter wanted to take
him on a little water adventure so off to the Arroyo. I don't think he
hated it, but I'm not sure he liked it either ;)

Little Milo loves cuddle time

This will be interesting when he's full grown.
Which will be a surprise since we really don't know what he is. The
rescue group thinks terrier/choco lab mix. The vet thinks Chesapeake
Bay Retriever! So um ... Somewhere between 30-80 lbs. Yup. Our little
monster face.

Puppies are easier to photograph when they're sleepy

Peter's trying to teach Milo "first down"

He also loves this chair ... and the couch ...

Milo loves this chair

Rambunctious, mischievous pup will sit quietly in this chair while
Peter gets ready in the morning.

Milo knows he's cute

But he does like to sleep...

Milo doesn't understand cameras

We Found Him Here ...

... At Barks & Bitches on Fairfax. He was found at a city shelter at 8
weeks old by a rescue group called Jimi's Angels and 10 weeks old when
we brought him home.

This was our last stop on a long day of hitting 5 city and county shelters.

Meet Milo

At this point we didn't have a name for him. The rescue group called him Hector, Peter called him 'little buddy' and I called him 'monster face'. Angela just called him cute.
